ELA Technology-Mrs. Acritelli, Monday and Tuesday
Bio: Mrs. Acritelli began her teaching in 1986. She has worked for various districts in Arizona, Nevada, and Texas. She has taught all grades, but primarily Language Arts and Writing to Middle and Jr. High students. She has a masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and is highly qualified in English Language Arts.
Mrs. Acritelli is a mother and grandmother to 3 children and 6 grandchildren. She likes camping with her horses and family all over the country.

WELCOME To ELA Technology and Technology!
This class will focus on writing as measured by the AZMerit test. Students will receive instruction in writing essays both in the computer lab and in the classroom.
Rationale:The purpose of the ELA Technology class is to give students additional opportunities to practice writing in the same format they’ll be expected to write on theAZMerit test. The test expects students to read at least 3 articles online, then write an essay to address a specific writing prompt citing information from the articles. Students will write an expository essay,argumentative essay, informative essay, or a narrative story. ELA Technology gives students additional practice to develop the skills necessary to be successful using the online test format.
Students from grades 3 to 12 are expected to perform on the AZMerit writing test.
Students will be scored using the following guidelines:
Statement of Purpose/Focus and Organization: 40%
Evidence/Elaboration: 40%,
Editing/Conventions: 20% .
Mrs. Broyles will continue to work with students using the Arizona State Technology standards which
includes various computer programs such as power point and excel, and saving and collaborating on projects in the cloud. All students will use technology to practice academic skills in reading, and math, and do research as needed for other classes.
